Bohart Museum of Entomology
The seventh largest insect collection in North America has more than 7 million specimens from around the world, focusing on fresh-water and terrestrial invertebrates. Open Monday to Thursday 8:30-12, 1-5. Free admission.
California Raptor Center
A unique facility combining education, research, and conservation. This Center provides care for about 200 raptors per year, releasing 60 percent back into the wild. Free; open to the public weekdays 9-4. Located next to the goat barn; open weekdays 9-4, Saturday 9-12.
City of Davis Wetlands
An ongoing project that preserves and restores native habitats and the wildlife they support. Open to public to view birds and other wildlife or you can take a tour. Located at 45400 County Road 28H, Davis. Open to the public February 15 through August 31, seven days a week, 7-1. September 1 through February 15, Mondays only, 7-1. Located on County Road 28H.
Davis Farmers Market
This legendary market brings farmers and food lovers together year-round. Find fruits, vegetables, nuts, organic produce and meats, flowers, performers, and much more. Saturday 8-1 year-round; Wednesday 4:30-8:30 March through October. East Quad Farmers Market at UC Davis Wednesdays 10-2, Fall and Spring quarters.
Explorit Science Center
Explorit engages children and adults in hands-on science discovery. The center offers everyone the chance to “Think it… Try it… Explorit”. Open by reservation only.
Impossible Acres
During the summer, pick your own berries, cherries, apples, peaches and other seasonal produce. During October, pick your own pumpkins and negotiate the corn maze. Take a tractor ride and enjoy their baby farm animal petting zoo. Check their website or call for u-pick hours.
Rainbow City
Located in Community Park, Davis’ most innovative and creative playground includes castles, a pirate ship, sand box, swings, slides, climbing tubes, and more! Community Park, 1405 F Street between 14th and Covell and between K Street and Oak Avenue.
Rocknasium
Davis’ premier indoor climbing facility with 23 walls and endless climbing possibilities for beginners and experts alike. No experience necessary and walk-ins are welcome; instruction and classes available. Open weekdays 11-11, Saturday 10-9, Sunday 10-6.
UC Davis Arboretum
This arboretum is a living outdoor museum with more than 22,000 types of trees, plants, and shrubs. Visitors may wander through the grounds or join public tours. The Arboretum gardens are open 24 hours a day, every day, free of charge.
Yolo Basin Foundation
Yolo Basin Foundation offers environmental education programs for all ages related to wetlands and wildlife. Programs include bird watching tours in the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, Bat Talk and Walk events in the summer and California Duck Days in February.
