2nd Friday Art About Davis
2nd Friday ArtAbout is a monthly evening of art viewing and artists’ receptions at galleries and businesses in Downtown Davis and beyond. Coordinated by the Davis Downtown, all events are free and open to the public. Many include complimentary refreshments and opportunities to converse with featured artists.
Carl Gorman Museum
For forty-five years, the C.N. Gorman Museum has been dedicated to the creative expressions of Native American artists and artists of diverse cultures and histories. Open Mon- Fri 12-5pm; Sun 2-5pm.
Craft Center Gallery
Come view student work on display at the Craft Center. Exhibit changes every month. Free admission. Open Monday – Thursday 10–10, Friday 12–7, Weekends 10-6. Located on the UC Davis campus craft center off Hutchinson drive in the South Silo Building.
Davis Art Center
The Davis Art Center offers about 300 classes every quarter year including, but not limited to, art, dance, martial arts, and storytelling at an average price of only $48. Open Monday – Thursday 9:30-7, Friday 9:30-5.
Design Museum at UC Davis
The Design Museum is known for its changing exhibitions of national and international design-related material, including architecture, costume, graphic design, textiles, new media, and popular culture. Free admission. Open Monday – Friday 12-4, Sunday 2-4.
Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art
University museum with a robust collection of old master prints, East Asian art and ceramics.
John Natsoulas Gallery
Art dealer John Natsoulas set up this multi-level gallery with the idea that fine art should be accessible in a friendly, open setting. The gallery also hosts workshops and conferences. Open Wednesday – Thursday 11-5, Friday 11-10, Saturday – Sunday 12-5.
The Artery
Located in downtown Davis, this gallery is a collective owned and operated by the artists who display their work here. Check it out if you want to buy, contribute, or just visit. Open Monday – Saturday 10-6, Friday 10-9, and Sunday 12-5.
The Basement Gallery
Featuring student work by undergraduate students.
The International House
This facility is dedicated to international education, understanding, and connections. Art exhibits in the lounge and community room feature paintings, prints, photographs, and mixed media. Open weekdays 9-4.
The Pence Gallery
The intimate Pence is a nonprofit art gallery dedicated to showing the best work by local and regional artists. They display 12 different exhibits annually, and offer classes, talks, and a series of programs for children. Free admission. Open Tuesday – Sunday 11:30-5 and 7pm-9pm on the second Friday of every month.
U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame
Housed in Davis, this world-class attraction features priceless bicycles, trophies, medals, and memorabilia from the world’s cycling best. Changing displays highlight contemporary pros. Also on display is the prestigious Pierce Miller antique bicycle collection. Open Wednesday 4-8, Saturday 10-2, or by appointment.
